WHO ARE WE?

Gulen Canol Tutuncu

Born in 1982 in Sivas/Turkey. After graduating from high school in Balikesir, she began studying at Middle East Technical University, Industrial Engineering (METU IE) in 1999. Having enjoyed the prep and freshman classes, she transferred to Bogazici University to have some Boshorus winds. Played violin until graduating in 2004. Decided to “retire on the peak of her arts career path” after the concerts with BUFK staff and became an audience.

After graduation, she worked in various areas: production planning, research & consultancy and human resources. Meanwhile wrote an article for the travel book written by METU IE graduates, called SeyahatnamEM, and became the editor of the book. She expects she will retire on CEO position if she keeps experiencing different areas in different jobs 🙂

It seems that she must have been unable to forget the joy of her Switzerland journey in 2004, she is trying to travel to many countries since then. Meanwhile not ignoring the homeland, she is breaking new grounds from Cesme to Dogubeyazit.

Now in South America. She’ll wander around and come back.

Traveled so far: Switzerland, Sweden, USA, Greece, Spain.

Murat Tutuncu

Born in 1982 in Izmir/Turkey. After Bornova Anatolian High School, he graduated from Middle East Technical University, Industrial Engineering (METU IE) in 2004.

He was infected with the backpacker’s virus during his comfortless Western European hitchhiking tour in 2004 on his senior year. It caused him to spend the next two years in Sweden, under the cloak of master’s study. He traveled to many European countries by hitchhiking and by using hospitality-exchange networks. He has been guest to dozens of people and hosted dozens of people by these networks. Tried to get to know the local cultures from inside, instead of the shop-window.

After completing the military service, he began working professionally in 2007 in Izmit. He is keeping traveling on different routes and distances with his wife since then and keeping hosting and helping several backpackers and hitchhikers on the way from Europe to Far-East.

Now in South America. He’ll wander around and come back.

Traveled so far: A dozen countries in West, North and South Europe.
